This morning I received an email that appears to be from Hulu with the subject: "New Sign-in to Your Account". But the address is hulu@hulumail.com instead of hulu@hulu.com. So it appears to be fake or a scam. The email looks like this: New Device Sign-in On Your Hulu Account Hi, We spotted a new device logged into your account. What? Where? When? Who? MANAGE DEVICES If you do a google search for "hulumail.com fake" or "hulumail.com scam" then you come across this reddit thread: Strange e-mail : Hulu. In the thread a few people received similar emails. Most people in the thread seem to think that it is a phishing attempt. But if you look up the whois then it looks like it was registered by Hulu in 2007. However, hulu.com was created in 1997. The other strange thing is that two people on the reddit thread said the device name was Andy iPhone, which is very similar to the device name in my email. That makes it look even more like a phishing attempt. Another user said the device name was trinicracker12's iPhone. All the links in the email go to click.hulumail.com. So most users are scared to click on the links. Instructions to manage devices without clicking on the link So here are the instructions to check on your devices in Hulu without clicking on a link in the email:
Then you can click on "REMOVE" next to the devices that are suspicious. Take a look at some of the devices that were using my hulu account:
Very suspicious indeed!! Even if the email from hulu@hulumail.com is an official email from Hulu it still appears that Hulu has some very big security flaws because someone that calls themselves "Andy" has been able to hack into many Hulu accounts. And someone else that calls themselves "trinicracker12" has been hacking into accounts for over a year. At this point you can close the "MANAGE DEVICES" window and click on "CHANGE PASSWORD" back on your Account page. But we all may want to think twice about having a Hulu account if they are not taking care of their security properly. Last updated on September 13, 2019 |
